The controversial (to some) Olsen October has come to an end and I’m kind of sad because it was such a fun month/project. And I really loved my Olsen header.

Mary Kate & Ashley are my true favorites and fashion icons and I had the best time looking through thousands of their pictures and making all the mood boards, collages and posts.

So to keep the Olsen spirit alive in Überchic, from now on I will feature in the sidebar Olsen Watch with their latest trendsetting looks.

And for this post I’ll leave you with pictures of MK & Ash together because, really, what would one be without the other?

Although they change their styles regularly, there are certain items that have been long associated with each Olsen and one with both.

MK’s Red Chanel

Mary Kate Olsen loves a red Chanel 2.55 so much she even wrote an article for the New York Times about it! She claims it was Ashley’s but I’ve yet to find a picture of her with it.

“I have a large, red quilted Chanel bag that I borrowed from my sister Ashley. I wore it to an event and never gave it back. Luckily, she's moved on to another bag, so I'm safe for now. I'm not quite sure how many bags I have, but let's just say I have a few. When I find a bag I like, I tend to wear it to death until I become obsessed with another one. This probably happens three to five times a year. But I always come back to the Chanel. The size isn't overwhelming, and it has enough subtle detail to keep it interesting.

I also have the smaller version in blue and in white, but the red is definitely my favorite. I don't have a stylist — I'd rather just do my own thing and put together my own outfits. The chain-handle bag is the perfect accent to almost any combination I come up with. I look at everything with a designer's eye, but I wouldn't change a thing about this bag. I think that's why it's a true classic.”

Ashley instead has long been seen with a black Fendi tote but she has yet to write a love letter to it.

Unlike MK, Ashley dresses up her plaid shirt with a structured blazer and stylish accessories.

Military green is such a hard color to pull of, Ash knows black and grey are the necessary hues for making it look chic and less Luke Danes-ish.

Olsen Controversy: Fur

Mary Kate and Ashley are always sporting the most beautiful furs, but not everyone is ok with that. They have been targeted by some animal right groups for wearing fur and using it in their fashion line The Row. I am all for fur but tell me: what do you think about the issue?

In an era when the title gets thrown around too easily Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are true fashion icons. They are individuals who don’t follow trends but have unique style, never caring about what people might think, dressing for themselves and no one else.

So while we wait and hold our breath for the release of their fist book Influence, this month will be dedicated exclusively to MK and Ash and their style. With polls, retrospectives and how to’s, it will be a very busy and exiting month.
