We Could Be Heroes Just For One Night

Yesterday's Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy Gala at the Met was a little underwhelming for my taste, there were some outfits that took flight but most were relegated to sidekick status. There were also some disappointments (I'm looking at you Rachel Bilson, especially that hair). And obviously no one told the Olsens that with great fashion power comes great responsibility.

I was just thinking of Plum Sykes the other day, wondering: when will she write again? (If you haven’t read Bergdorf Blondes or The Debutante Divorcee go read them now). And there she is in a gorgeous (albeit not Superheroish) gown. One of my best dressed.

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley were also not very in theme, but I forgive them for looking glam and yesterday’s extra juicy Gossip Girl.

So what did you think?

PS. Someone should have told poor Piper Perabo that Poiret was last year's theme.

I love the dress in the top picture - do you know who designed it?

I was really dissaponted last night 'cause no one get it right with the gala theme... I could give Katie Holmes extra points for the braveness

MK looks great. I want to be dunked in liquid gold for an event. Naomi Watts was pretty much my least favorite, she was just so bland and a bit literal Marilyn Monroe...

My favourite was Ricci, no doubt. Wintour looks like devil to me... There was something weird in Rachel Bilson, probably, as you said, it was the hair. Katie Holmes make up was terrible, why she was orange?? -

Seriously! Nobody went with the theme. We all were expecting so much! I love Christina Ricci and Blake Lively's dresses.

And I want to smack Rachel Bilson with her new hair.

Anna Wintour looks ridiculous. Am I the only one who thinks so? Well, I guess she was going with the theme blah blah.

I was disappointed that hardly anyone dressed for the theme. So not fun. But I loved Amber's dress and Christina Ricci's as well.

I absolutely agree with you, dear!
I didn't like Naomi Watts, though... her dress looked like a brave choice someone would've made 50 years ago!

I thought they were quite dissapointing, to be honest.

Loved Christina Ricci's outfit though!

I love Plum's writing!
And I agree with what you said about Blake, she wasn't very in theme. Her glovces blended in with her dress and made it look like she had no hands, so maybe she was playing the part of the super handless woman???
To me Miss Ricci was the winner!
